I am an emerging mixed-media artist based in Norway, entering a creative chapter after a fulfilling career as an engineer. Following my retirement, I decided to channel my love for structure and problem-solving into a formal exploration of visual art. I completed a foundation art course alongside several intensive online courses to transition my skills to the canvas, after several years of working with mosaics. Today, my practice is an exploration of memory, nature, and form. Combining a newfound love for acrylic painting with my own photography, family archives, and abstract experimentation allows me to build layered, textured stories through image transfer.
I have lately been working on a series that honours the incredible instincts of ordinary birds creating magic right above our heads. Every year in the spring the very same birds return to our coasts and fields from unknown journeys. By embedding my own photography of local wildlife, I try to capture these fleeting encounters and the cyclical wonder of their migration. I don’t know how much longer we have to enjoy the company of these birds. The Northern Lapwing is critically endangered because of modern farming practises, and the beautiful Eurasian Oystercatcher is near threatened. The Grey Heron seems safe for now maybe because it is the most elusive of these birds possibly finding refuge in areas with no people.
